More than just acupuncture
Rather than just provide an acupuncture service, my aim is to help you manage your pets pain. It is often difficult to assess patients properly in a practice setting with limited time and space. Our initial meeting would aim to get an overview of how your pet is getting along day to day with a thorough questionnaire which may highlight problem areas. I would then observe your pet moving about, looking for subtle changes in gait which may provide further information and areas to target. This allows me to classify the pain and advise on current treatment and whether acupuncture is likely to be helpful.
Acupuncture is a safe and holistic therapy that has been used for centuries in China to promote healing and alleviate pain in both humans and animals. It involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points. These points are located along energy pathways, or meridians, which are believed to correspond to different organs and systems in the body.
In Western Veterinary Acupuncture, we will use classical Chinese acupuncture points as well as common areas that muscles become sore.
The classical Chinese explanation is that by stimulating these acupuncture points, acupuncture can help restore the balance of energy flow and promote the body's natural healing process. In Western Medicine it has been determined that acupuncture can alter the way the nervous system processes pain signals so that pain is reduced and the way we feel about pain is improved. It can be particularly effective in relieving pain, and improving overall well-being.
I can provide a safe and gentle service in your own home. I currently devote Tuesday to my acupuncture practice as I still work the rest of the week in a busy local veterinary clinic as a first opinion vet. If you think acupuncture might be beneficial to your pet please contact by text or phone on 07940 953 879.
